I admit it. I am addicted to Facebook and think that it is a wondrous example of what I might call ‘accidental great design’.
Facebook was created by a young university student in a rather short period of time. Since those early days when Zuckerberg toiled away in the wee hours, it has obviously had the benefit of VC funding and numerous talented human resources. It shows telltale signs of good design, namely openness, reasonable security for its users, and a published API.
Some will argue that Facebook provides a home for millions of internet morons. You likely enjoy this video which provides some levity at the expense of Facebook.
